I-70 Manchester Bridge Project Update

Feb 10, 2015 @ 11:20 AM

Ramp Closure Dates on Manchester Bridge Project

We are getting ready to switch eastbound I-70 traffic to the new bridge.  In order to complete this, we will have two ramp closures in order to tie in the pavement to the new bridge.  These ramp closures should only be about 2 weeks each and will have a signed detour.

February 12:  Close I-70 eastbound ON ramp from 31st Street/US40.
February 14:  Close eastbound I-70 OFF ramp to Manchester Trafficway.
Weekend of February 28-March 1:  2-lane closure eastbound I-70 in order to shift traffic to the new bridge, including asphalt work, striping, etc.

Thank you!

Preferred Alternative Available for Review & Public Meetings Scheduled

The Missouri Department of Transportation is continuing the I-70 Second Tier Environmental Impact Statement in Kansas City from The Paseo interchange on the west to the Blue Ridge Cutoff interchange on the east. The review period for the Draft EIS document is now open.

From January 17 through March 7, 2014, MoDOT is encouraging anyone who is interested in the study to comment on the preferred alternative and the Draft EIS with reference to the economic and social effects of the improvements, the impact on the environment, and consistency with the goals and objectives of the surrounding community.

The preferred alternative is described in the Draft EIS document that the Federal Highway Administration, the EIS’ lead federal agency, reviewed and approved. The draft document, maps, and other detailed information will be available at the February 11 public hearing from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Gregg/Klice Community Center (1600 John “Buck” O’Neil Way) in Kansas City, Missouri.

The materials will also be available at mobile meetings scheduled for February 4 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Kansas City Public Library: Bluford Branch (3050 Prospect Avenue), February 6 from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Kansas City VA Medical Center (4801 Linwood Boulevard), and February 20 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Kansas City Public Library: Northeast Branch (6000 Wilson Road).

In addition, a copy of the Draft EIS document is available for public review and comment at www.metroi70.com, in Kansas City at the Mid-America Regional Council (600 Broadway, Suite 200), Bluford and Northeast Branches of the Kansas City Public Library, and MoDOT’s Lee’s Summit office (600 NE Colbern Road).

Please share your thoughts with us! The feedback you provide will be combined with the study team’s analysis and used to help MoDOT develop the Final EIS document to be submitted to the FHWA for review and approval.

Signed,
I-70 Second Tier EIS
